Recurrent Yeast Infections And Pregnancy

Gestational diabetes. Has anyone suffered?

My doctor keeps detecting glucose in my urine sample. I am 35 weeks pregnant. He is getting me in on thursday for a blood sample to test the levels in my blood. I remember with my first pregnancy i had to have a tolerance test because they kept detecting it in my sample but it came back negative. I would just think it was just another weird thing this time but i feel quite thirsty, off my food, recurrent water and yeast infections and some days i am bursting with energy and others i am too exhausted to do anything. I am craving sweet things but other then apple i am keeping these sweet pangs at bay. Has anyone had gestational diabetes, how did it affect you and what symptoms did you get? Many thanks for your answers :)
Chelsea…. This is my second pregnancy, not 102nd :)

I had gestational diabetes twice and I didn’t detect any symptoms that were due to the diabetes alone. I was thirsty all through prenancy and had cravings because of pregnancy, but nothing other than what you expect in every pregnancy. You are so close to delivery that if you had to cut out sugar, it would not be too hard. Some people think that gestational diabetes is harmless, as it produces bigger babies, but the baby could also be hypoglycemic initially – they really just have to give it sugar water – and if you develop the diabetes earlier (like 26-28 weeks), it could slow the lung development. The trick is to have your sweets and your carbs when your insulin is the most effective – which is about midday. Really, at your stage of the game, I dont think you have too much to worry about, just follow doctor’s orders and stay well!!! Much luck and love to you.
