what infections can u get from an iud?
I got an IUD the mirena and since i got it i have been leaking a clear fluid that has a very foul smell, yet im not having any symptoms of yeast infection or anything, im not itchy and have no burning, I do however spot but the blood is a very very dark brown and i am very concerned. Just wanting to know what is going on with my body. My sexual intercourse doesn’t feel right since i got it either, it hurts. why is this happening?
If you have any discharge that is foul smelling, you need to go back to your MD or to the ER. It sounds as though you may have an infection. The spotting does not concern me as much as the uterine tenderness and the foul discharge. I would suggest a trip to the ER tonight, as you may need to have antibiotics. A uterine infection could progress to a condition call P.I.D. or pelvic inflammatory disease, which could cause scarring or infertility later. Please follow up on this right away. It is not a normal side effect of IUD placement.
