Yeast Infections Green Discharge
Yeast Infection Medication Guidelines That You Should Know
Since the FDA reduced the limitations placed on yeast infection medicines in the 1990s, a number of OTC drugs have been developed. These drugs can be purchased without the patient having to get a prescription from a doctor, and this gives them a number of advantages when they’re suffering from a yeast infection. However, it should be noted that there are a number of guidelines which should be followed when a person is taking these medications. A failure to follow these guidelines can lead to a number of undesirable problems.
You should never use yeast infection medications if you notice a discharge from your vagina which has a foul smell. You should also avoid using these medications if notice intense pain in your abdominal area. If you notice either of these symptoms, it is a sign that you are likely suffering from a condition which is far worse than a yeast infection. In a situation like this, you will want to contact your doctor asap. It is also not a good idea to use OTC medications if this is the first time you’ve experienced a vaginal itch. It is a much better idea to consult your doctor first, as they may be able to run some tests to determine the cause of the problem.
If you are taking yeast infection medications, and you haven’t notice any improvement after taking it for three days, this is a sign that you’re suffering from a condition that is not related to a yeast infection, and you need to cease taking the medication. If after taking the medication you notice that the symptoms stop, but start again less than two months later, avoid taking the medication again and make an appointment with your doctor. Also, if you’re pregnant, you should never take any yeast infection medications unless your doctor has given you the green light to do so.
It should also be noted that most yeast infection medications are only for the vagina. They should never be used under any circumstances for other parts of the body such as the eyes or mouth. If you mistakenly swallow it, you will need to seek medical help immediately, or call a poison control center. Under no circumstances should you allow this medication to be within the reach of children. If you have a household with children, always keep this medication locked up when it is not being used.
