I’M IN PAIN!! I think I have an infection on my nipple from breastfeeding.?

My left nipple has a large, swollen, bright pink patch on the areola. And it hurts very bad when my 4 month old eats. I don’t think it’s a yeast infection.. we had that before and the baby had white spots in his mouth. He doesn’t right now. I can’t go to the doctor until Monday, do you know of ANYTHING i can do to ease the pain??

my daughter and I had reoccuring thrush, the second time she got yeast, she didnt have white spots in her mouth. I used gentian violet (you can purchase it from walmart) on my nipple and in her mouth for a week. It cleared up. IT does stain the mouth and nipple purple, but it really works!

Also may I suggest using a really good absorbant nursing pad? Keeping moisture away from the nipple is key in preventing thrush/yeast….I use Lansinoh brand with my now six month old and we havent had any problems…Dont give up! it doesn get easier, just get over the hump!

Lansinoh also makes a gel/cream to put on the nipple to help heal sores…maybe that would help as well.
