recurring bacterial vaginosis?

I have had this for almost 2 years!!! I am so sick of it! I have been to the doctor over and over-different doctors and I cannot afford to go anymore! They all give me the same diagnosis-bacterial vaginosis. One of them mistakenly diagnosed me with trichamonas and then came back and said they read the results wrong-it was BV.

this is actually a very common problem. BV tends to recur over and over in some people. It is a complicated issue, I will try and make it as simple as possible. If you are one of these people (sounds like you are) you need to accept that you will most likely be having recurrences. You may not have enough good bacteria called lactobacillus to keep your vagina at a healthy pH thus predisposing you to BV. Nothing you can do about the lack of bacteria, but there are many things you can do to reduce the risk of a recurrence. Yeast medication is useless for BV
No douching-ever, no bubble baths, no scented cleansers. do not sit in a bathtub with soap in the water. You can use Purpose to clean the genital area.
Avoid tracking bacteria from the rectum to the vaginal area. Wipe from front to back and dont wear thong underwear. Avoid the rectal area during intercourse as it will bring bacteria up.
BV occurs commonly after sex and with your period.
In order to get rid of the current infection, you need to be treated again, no way around that
After treated, you can start using a product called Rephresh to prevent future episodes. you can use it twice weekly to keep vaginal pH in the normal range. Use it after sex as well. You can buy at any drugstore. Remember though, it is not going to help the infection you already have, you need to see a doctor again for a prescription. Ask your doctor about other things you can do to avoid BV,the list is endless. but for sure, dont ever douche – that is a big factor
